The Southern California Energy Summit 2013 was held at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Oct. 4th. The summit united 600 regional governments and businesses to foster clean renewable energy sources and making a sustainable economy. The summit included speakers, panel discussions, exhibitions, new green technologies and bus tours. Congressman Raul Ruiz was supposed to speak on the Salton Sea but was required to remain in Washington. A speaker spoke instead and fielded questions from the guests on the subject.

Featured speaker was Actress and Environmentalist, Daryl Hannah, who spoke with great enthusiasm about how our country could be number one in renewable energies. Food wastes could create fuel, people can learn about solar energy and political leaders could lead the way in many ways to create renewable energies. Others speakers spoke on various subjects pertaining to renewable energies.

A Networking reception was held at CPV in Desert Hot Springs on Oct.3rd. Several hundred invited guests along with local dignitaries were a part of this reception. DHS Real Academy Students, Color Guard and Band were a big part of this event. REAL Academy was presented with a $5,000 check from CVP.
