Bill Clinton, our 42nd President, held his 2nd annual Clinton Initiative, Health Matters in Every Generation, at LaQuinta Resort Spa on Jan. 15th. This is a huge conference on Health Care and Obesity in our young and old alike.The main topic is activating wellness in all our lives and fighting obesity by working together in all aspects of Healthy living.

Jillian Michaels from the Biggest Loser TV show held a morning workout to get things started. A welcome address was given by Dr. Kelvin Baggett and Dr. Donald Berwich. President Clinton gave the opening remarks about last years conference and the inroads that have been made since the last forum here. Clinton is happy to be a part of the Humana Golf Challenge and this conference.

Dr. Nancy Sneiderman from NBC moderated a panel of experts in health. She first spoke to President Clinton. They have been friends for many years and joked with each other on the stage. Dr. Deepak Chopra held a meditation lesson and had the audience in deep mediation during his session.

Another panel was moderated by Chelsea Clinton, President Clinton’s daughter. She is very involved with bringing health care to the nation. Topics discussed included Diet, Drugs, Health care for the elderly and disabled, Obesity, healthy foods in schools, Depression and even bullying.
There were so many topics touched during all these panels which included, Doctors, CEO’s, VP’s, Directors, former policemen and Heads of health facilities to name just a few of these professionals in health care.

Actress, singer, philanthropist Barbra Streisand told that her foundation has pledged 2 million dollars to heart health in women. She arrived with husband, actor James Brolin and sat in the audience and listened to the speakers. Local mayors were involved in a panel along with Olympic medal winners, actors and PGA Pro, Gary Player who tries to do 5000 sit-ups a week. Haile Thomas is only 12 years old but spoke about how she tries to help teenagers with education on healthy food choices.

President Clinton closed with remarks about this conference and the millions of dollars being pledged by businesses, schools, health facilities and many others. He thanked all those attending and said that this can’t be accomplished by one alone and we must all work together for the good of the nation and its people. He felt this conference was better than the last one and is hoping to say great strides will be made in the future.
