The Indian Wells Tennis Gardens has already started breaking ground for the new addition to the facility with a new 8000 seat stadium 2 and 2000 new parking spaces. There was a ground breaking ceremony on March 6th with the promise that the new addition would be started as the BNP Barabas Open ended.

On hand for the ground breaking was owner Larry Ellison plus local dignitaries and top tennis players. Dignitaries included Mayor Mary Roche, and Indian Wells officials Raymond Moore and Steve Simon. 5 top tennis stars Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, winner of this years 2013 Open, Novak Djokovi, Ana Ivanovic and Victoria Azarenka.

Only one of these top players made the finals. That was the winner Rafael Nadal. The other players won many of their matches but failed to get to the final day of play. They did provide some of the most exciting matches of the tournament. The BNP Parabas Open broke records again this year with attendance over 320,000. Daily records were broke too as the weather was fantastic for the whole event.

With the new addition and new ideas I am sure Mr. Ellison is hoping to make this the top Tennis Championship in the nation. We have the weather, the facility, the staff, the dedicated owner and the desire to bring this tournament to the top of Tennis in the near future. The top tennis players love this tournament and will continue to play here.
