Palm Desert, CA – The annual sketch comedy offering from the College of the Desert Dramatic Arts Company returns with The Madcap Underground!  The show will feature a raucous blend of original sketch comedy and music in what promises to be the rowdiest theatre going experience of the year!

“There’s no other show like this in the valley,” says Director & Writer Noemi Villela Dean.  “It’s also a tremendous learning experience for students.  Captivating audiences while portraying outrageous characters in outrageous situations is a challenge for any actor. It is a fast-paced environment and rehearsal process,” she says.  “The cast members are forced to fully commit to their given circumstances.”

“Chicago has Second City.  New York has Saturday Night Live.  Los Angeles has The Groundlings. The desert has The Madcap Underground,” says Co-Writer and Co-Director, Tres Dean.

The Madcap Underground was originally created by the Dean duo in 2009.  Since that time they have produced sketch comedy cabaret shows across the valley, as well as web series shorts and videos.

The ensemble cast consists of three local professional actors including Tres Dean & Jennifer Bennett (both are currently training with the world famous improvisation studio “The Groundlings” in Hollywood) and writer, director, producer, actor, and Co-Founding Artistic Director of the Desert Ensemble Theater Company, Eric Olson. The cast also consists of current C.O.D. students and Alumni Ivan Ortega, Anthony Gomez, Megan Camacho, Ashton Loyo, Liridona Leti, Florentino Carrillo, Hannah Seals, Ramon Martinez, Diana Valle, Johnny Bolth, Miranda Hane, Matthew Reyes, Dylan Low, Todd Silverberg, Briana Taylor, Nina Charming, Claudia Gomez, Leah Juarez, Teagan Lugo, Brando Nunez, and Renee Borgeau.
