The Palm Springs Cultural center celebrated the 5th anniversary of Cinema Diverse at the Camelot Theatre in Palm Springs. This gay and Lesbian film Festival was hosted by Michael Green, Managing Director of the Palm Springs Cultural center. The event was shown at the Camelot Theater on Sept. 20 to 23, 2012. Ric and Rozene Supple, Founders of the Palm Springs Cultural Center have hosted this Festival each year.

More films were shown this year than ever before with 22 feature films and 38 short films. They introduced more Lesbian films to bring a more diverse crowd to the festival in keeping with the LGBT Cinema. People filled the seats of the Camelot Theatre almost every night. The event is sponsored by local Palm Spring businesses.

Another feature to the Film Festival were the after-parties held each night after the last screening. Ticket holders were invited to each after party. Some of the places for the parties included, Hunters, Lulu’s and Encore. The parties were a place to discuss the nights films and greet and meet old friends and new ones.

The Sunday nights finale showing was Love or Whatever. The Director,Producer,Actors and production crew took to the Stage to answer questions during a Q&A. Host Michael Green asked film goers to present a question to those on stage. One question asked each person on stage to announce what they are doing now and what they have in the works. Another question was where were they going next with the film and how long it took to make it and at what cost.

Each ticket holder was invited to the after party at the Encore in Palm Springs, owned by Ginny Foat and her partner. Directors/producers/writers from other films shown at the Festival came to the after-party to tout their new projects. Many were already discussing next years Gay & Lesbian Cinema Diverse Film Festival. This was the most attended Festival so far and they are hoping to increase ticket sales for next year.
