Palm Springs held its Annual Greater Palm Springs Pride Festival on November 3rd & 4th. Friday November 2nd awards were given to many people for their efforts for equality and volunteerism.
128 performers entertained on 7 stages at Sunrise Park and downtown Palm Springs. There were 3 dance venues, Food
vendors and HIV/AIDS booths with information on the disease and where to find support if needed.
The Great Palms Springs Pride Parade was held on Sunday at 10:00 am. 18,000 to 20,000 people came early to find the right spot to watch the parade. The parade started at Ramon Road and ended at Tamarisk Road. The parade theme this year was Long May It Wave. Men, women, children and even pets came early to find the right spot to watch. Bands, floats, elaborate costumes, horses, pets, walkers and dancers were part of the parade. Exotic vintage cars held celebrities and award honorees while members of the parade handed out beads, leis and other memorabilia. People from far and wide come to witness this once a year event.
