The Variety Indie Impact Brunch was held at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs on Sunday Jan. 6th. The event was sponsored by Mercedes Benz at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The 10 directors to watch were presented awards and walked a Red Carpet and gave interviews for the media.
The honoree for the day was David O. Russell that was presented with the Variety Indie Impact Award by actor Bradley Cooper. Other celebrities attending were Fred, The
Hammer, Williamson and his wife Linda. Singer Jack Jones and his wife Eleanora and Festival Director Darryl Macdonald and PSIFF Artistic Director, Helen de Toit to name just a few.
The 10 Directors presented were Haifaa Al-Mansour for Wadjda, Wayne Blair for The Sapphire, John Krokidas for Kill Your Darlings, Tobias Lindholm for A Highjacking, David Lowery for Aints them Bodies Saints, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore for Aint them Bodies Saints, Andres Muscietti for Mama, David Ondricek for In The Shadow , Joachim Renning and Espen Sandberg for Kon-Tiki and lastly Rebecca Thomas for Electrick Children. Other guests included Steve Gaydos and Michelle Sobrino from Variety and Jay Penske from Penske Media.
The brunch was held outdoors in the garden area of the Parker Hotel. Guests were served a variety of omelets of their choice and wine and spirits were also served to those who wished one with their lunch. Several hundreds guests filled the garden area to the watch the awards ceremonies.
