Joshua Tree Music Festival Returns May 12-15

Date:

(Joshua Tree, CA) – The Joshua Tree music festivals are a mini-burning man style of gathering where all day yoga classes loosen you up for a night of music, dancing and fun. It’s where old and young, hippie-style music lovers from all over the world converge for three days of peace and love at the JT RV Lake Campground on May 12-15, 2016.

These intimate gatherings in the high desert happens twice a year – the spring festival in May and the fall festival in October. Approximately 5,000 people who share some basic values centered around music but held together by a collective consciousness that is green-eco-oriented and artistically-infused with pop art.

This spring’s line up has plenty of world music, funk, hip hop, rock and blues with confirmed bands: Dumstafunk; Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown; Dakabrakha; one of my personal favorites from past festivals, The Main Squeeze; Sunsquabi; Empresarios; All Good Funk Alliance; Gene Evaro Jr. & the Family; Dani Bell & the Tarantist; the Desert Rhythm Project; and the Cactus Wine Experience.

More bands will be confirmed as the date gets closer, but suffice it to say that all music lovers will find these mini-Burning Mans a real joy.

Inside the music bowl inside a shaded stretch of campground on the outskirts of the famous national park. The Joshua Tree Music Festivals are produced by a family of friends and funsters convinced that music is the soul of life, and that art enriches and saves lives. The festival is constructed around one music bowl with two alternating stages.

“It’s the combination of the magical setting, the music and the people that leads to emphatic moments. We’ve created a space that enables folks to spend more time together with the ability to not miss any of the music.” Those ‘shared experiences’ are where you find the magic,” said promoter Barnett English.

“Fans rate us as one of the few festivals that truly caters to the entire family with the addition of Kidsville, an action-packed area filled with activities for children.

“There is no ‘nosebleed’ section, white tents, long lines or yellow-jacketed security details. Instead we find instant community with nonstop interaction as music lovers gather under 30,000 feet of billowing shade cloths flying over the stages and audience.

“This intimate musical affair is splashed with golden sunsets and star-filled desert night skies,” Barnett said.

Festival goers find a variety of organic food vendors, a global market, funky artists working live on site, and a fully-functional Kidsville area for children to be occupied with various fun and educational games and attractions.
